Colbie - 6 months

Our sweet baby girl just turned 6 months old and what a fun age it is!
6 Month Stats
Height - 26.5in (75%ile)
Weight - 17.4lbs (75%ile)
(as big as Colbie seems, I just checked back and saw that at 6 months Luke weighed 18lbs 15oz. Way bigger than baby girl!!)
Head Circ - 16.7in (50%ile)
I forget how much I love this age. It's the BEST! Colbie is such a happy baby, we are so lucky. Always content to chew on toys, smile and laugh at Luke, "talking" a bunch, doesn't cry unless she is really hungry or really tired, very focused and always learning. You can see it in her eyes. Love everything about it.
Plenty of rolls, if you haven't noticed. Just want to squeeze her!!!
She just started sitting well this week. She has been getting the hang of it since Christmas but now we can put her down and not worry too much about her falling straight back on her head. Better core muscles and control at this point it seems. Core muscles you say, yes, under all those rolls it does seem as if she has some! :) Shocking, I know.

  • She sleeps from 10-13 hours a night. Usually I will feed her 1x in the night/morning if she sleeps 13, but it has happened that she will sleep 13 straight without eating.
  • Naps 2-3 times a day. Usually one longer nap and two short ones. Very flexible with her sleeping. I can generally wake her up when I would like so I can time her naps to be with Luke's. Even if it is only 45 min of rest for mama, every bit helps!!
  • Been feeding her baby food & rice cereal since 4 months. She has liked/accepted everything offered thus far and is good at keeping it down. Doc said she is ready to move onto real food (mashed potatoes, soups mashed up, etc). Colbie shows a big interest in our food, more than Luke did.
  • Refuses to take a bottle. Although I did put some warm apple juice in one and she did accept that recently. So mom is strictly nursing this baby just like I did Luke.
  • She talks a lot "mamama" (first) now "dadadaa" mostly. So adorable!
  • No teeth yet but working on some I believe.
  • Such a happy, awesome personality. She has some spunk to her, but just enough! Very social and loves little kids, especially her brother.
  • Loves rough housing more than Luke did :). And love Itsy Bitsy Spider.
  • Has eczema like her brother. And lots of sores in her neck rolls because no air can get in there. Poor thing.
Spends lots of time in the exersaucer and LOVES jumping. Alli & Derek got her a jumper that you attach to a door frame and she gets some good air in it!
Does not feel stranger-danger, yet. Which is nice.
And still sleeps in her little 'Rock n Play Sleeper' pseudo bed. Need to put her in her crib soon...it's time.
Scratches her face a lot if I don't keep her nails super short. Hard to keep up on it sometimes.

Could not imagine having a happier, more wonderful, baby. We love you Colbie!

Luke is 2!

Luke turned 2 on Dec 22nd. Wanted to write down a few things that he is doing so I can remember what a sweet boy he is! Can't believe how fast you're growing up...
At 2 years he weighed 27.6 lbs and was at 50%ile for height and weight.
Sleeps 12 hours a night. Takes 1 nap (ususally 2 hrs).
Is not potty trained but I think he would be if mom would give him the proper chance! (he's peed 2x on the toilet all on his own)
We had a little family birthday party for him and I'll put more pics of that soon.
He is starting to put phrases together and his speech is pretty good. Starting to be able to understand lots of what he is saying out of context. He was singing "Happy Birthday" in the closet to himself today and it was too cute. Love when they sing. He LOVES the song Old McDonald Had a Farm. He always says "I want E-I-E-I-Ohhh". Loves itsy bitsy spider, once there was a snowman and all those kid songs.
this is the smile he so often does. it's just lovely.
He LOVES playing with dad and LOVES his baby sister. Calls her "Talbie". Always saying "watch Talbie". Cute that he cares enough to show-off to her. She adores him as well, obviously.
He loves jumping. Jumping all the time. Jumping, running, climbing. He's very active. Doesn't watch much TV still. But occasionally we can get him to watch 20 minutes of a Mickey Mouse episode. He also likes the movies: Toy Story, How to Train Your Dragon, Finding Nemo, Peter Pan, UP, and trying to think of some others.
He's very inclusive. If we say, do you want to play with Lucy today (cousin) he will respond, "and Avery. and Nora. And Scott. And Amy?" Never misses a beat. Loves his extended family a lot and knows who belongs to which family. He has a very good memory. If you tell him a name 1x he will remember it.
Loves playing downstairs and especially with his kitchen & pots and pans. We hear all day, "downstairs mommy, downstairs daddy".  Then he says "sit down" and wants you to sit at his table and he usually makes you eggs and sausage :). haha wonder where he gets that from??!
He loves aunt Alli and uncle Derek. We get to see so much of each other because we live so close, it's so awesome. We are so lucky! If Luke asks me to do something and I either can't do it or don't want to do it this is how the conversation will go:
Luke - "Mommy do it?"
Me - "No, mommy can't do it"
Luke - "Daddy do it?"
Me - "No Daddy can't do it"
Luke - "Ayee do it?"
Me - "No Alli can't do it"
Pretty cute, and funny.
He still doesn't eat a lot at once, but he is not very particular and will try just about everything. Of course, candy and sweets he loves a lot. I think his most favorite thing to eat at this point is chapstick. From moms purse. He'll go hide in a corner and if you take it away you should expect the biggest fit! He doesn't have too many melt downs but you can generally expect one when taking the chapstick.
Loves playing outside and in the snow. And we love that he loves it since we've had so much snow this winter.
He loves these little figurines he got for Christmas. Especially Jessie. Goes to sleep every night with them. "and Jessie. and woody. and buzz. and rex." Always inclusive, never leaves anyone out.
He loves his mommy a lot. Which makes me happy:). Wouldn't necessarily say he's a momma's boy but I think he knows who to ask when he's sad and needs something!
We love you so much Lukey. Colbie and mommy and daddy.
You are the sweetest boy and greatest brother.
This family would not be complete without you.
